Queen's Ink Workshops May 11 & 12

Patti decided I should do some classes for her at Queen's Ink in Savage MD...so come May I will be hosting a Workshop Weekend...Saturday the 11th will be my altered book -

On Sunday, the 12th I will be doing 2 workshops....one is an 8x10 canvas using Adirondack Alcohol Inks on canvas....the student will be making this painting -
And Adirondack Alcohol Ink on Dictionary paper...learn the secret to painting on book pages with alcohol ink without it spreading...the students will create this wall hanging on a dictionary page mounted on Ranger Sticky Back Canvas...the mediums used are Adirondack Alcohol Inks, Distress Stain, and markers....
I am really looking forward to these workshops....Queen's Ink is my favorite place on the East Coast to teach...they have the largest selection, the newest of everything and great personal...I will miss them since we will be moving to California in the Fall... This maybe my last hurrah....

Tattering again

Another brain fart...I cut up my foam stamping pad because I never use it and it is a nice thick, dense foam...perfect for die cutting a stamp...then I put the newly made stamp into an embossing folder and impressed the image into the foam....inked and stamped on my card...decided I needed a stem so I took the long stemmed tree group embossing folder and just colored a portion with a distressed marker and stamped it on the card...then using the same marker I colored only a portion of the foam stamps I made to make the leaf and grass...fun to play with....

Now on to my next one....I am waiting for a shirt to dry that I used bleach and the same foam stamps on ...

More Tattered Flower Projects

This is one of my old Coach purses....I knew I was hanging on to it for something....why not Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Challenge...yes, the die will cut real leather...the flowers embellishing this purse are real leather...only the best....remind anyone of the 60's?...I tinted the light color flowers with Distress Stains...

The card is just a fun Americana theme...will most likely be turned into a birthday card...I used Tim's frosted paper (?) for  some of the petals along with his tissue paper for the sun rays, Distress Stains on some of the petals and background paper...and tinted his ribbon with the stains...and his new brad that holds an image and cover...

Tattered Florals

On Tim Holtz board they are doing a Tattered Flowers challenge...these are what I have come up with so far...my brain has a few more ideas in there....the single flower is made with Tim's music tissue with the leaves from on of his other papers...the pink is Distress marker...on the card the flower is layered - back layer is ribbon, next is kraft glassine, then shimmer sticker paper then a simple green that has been scrunched and flatten and the ribbon rose of Tim's...all papers are Tim's...this as you can see is going to be one of my monthly birthday cards...I love that I am using up some of my older Tim papers...these look much nicer in person...

My First Zentangle

Thanks to my good friend, Diane Keys, I have now joined the ranks of Zentanglers...I have a long way to go but this was my first attempt...done at the bowling alley while cheering for my husband Drew...our Thursday night ritual...what is Zentangle...I would just Google it and be surprised...I decided to "frame" my piece...I used some of Tim Holtz papers - patterned and plain...this is out of my color palette...the "dream" word is from one of Tim's stamps...I used a Distress Marker to pull the word out...

Tim Holtz Configurations Box Book

This was designed for publication....waiting to hear if it will be selected...basically it is Tim's Configuration used as frames and boxes, masking tape on the cover colored with Adirondack Alcohol Inks, and lots of Tim embellishments, papers, and extras from my friends...the pen items are from Lisa in Savannah, GA and the large watch parts from Diane in Murrieta, CA...love that my friends look out for me...this was so much fun to design...the closure is chain looped around Tim's drawer pull....I put a loop in the chain to go around the pull....any questions about how I did it, email me...this is a repost for a friend...

Tim Holtz Album Workshop

Just finished my latest project...this is an album made from a classification folder...it consist of layered pages to add photos and/or journaling...I use mostly Ranger and Tim Holtz products...I have wanted to complete one of these since Tim brought out the travel lines...I'm sure this will turn into a future class once I contact my sources...when open the individual pages are stacked on the two section and you just flip them up to expose the next page...

Adirondack Alcohol Ink Book Cover

Started this a bit ago and decided to get it completed... Good ole Adirondack Alcohol Ink for the coloring...Masking tape covered 5x7 canvas...key is embedded in the cover and the ART is beneath the tape along with the spine..

Male Birthday Card Pop Up

Another idea came flooding my head so I went and made it...a pop up birthday card for a male...I used T!m Holtz papers and misc items...

Birthday Card for Friend

Needed to sit down and make a birthday card for a dear friend...hope she likes the humor in it...used T!m Holtz papers colored with Distress Ink pads...used T!m's die cut for the numbers and several of his stamps - bird, backgrounds and verse...along with a clipboard from Cricut - can't wait to play with T!m's new Sizzix clipboard whenever it is available...tied the pages together with some dark brown twine that I will also use tied around the closed card...now to go work on the envelope....

Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Inks on Canvas

I love painting with Adirondack Alcohol Inks on canvas and this time I did a twist...I added a verse from Tim Holtz stamp collection...I loved how it framed out...this will be going on my studio wall in California when we move....the camera doesn't capture the vibrance of the Alcohol Inks on the canvas like in real person...

Tim Holtz style birthday card

This is Tim Holtz inspired...I used his Sizzix die cut clock...the cover/front clock and hands are embossed using Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder and Distress Embossing Ink...the numerals are Ideology...the inside has a clock paper with Alpha's spelling Happy Birthday that are from one of Tim's sticker pads...the clock hands are pointing to the birthday date....and the attached tag says "It's that time again"..it is from his words sticker pack...I used white Dabber paint on the numbers then added some Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Broken China...I'm going to play around with some other dies and see if I can develop this into a class...

Tim Holtz As Time Goes By

Thinking about designs for this years workshops and publications....this is one idea I came up with...I used Ranger's Glue and Seal, Tim's Distress Stains, Adirondack Alcohol Inks, Tim's stamps, his Ideology items, his papers, die cuts, Configurations (those are the drawers that can actual close), and all kinds of fun things....the book title on the spine that is hard to see here is "As Time Goes By"...sure I may still tweak this a bit more but this is it for now...what do you think?...

The inspiration for this project was from an artist I saw in Maui HA - Vladimir Kush...I was so impressed with his work...a great surrealist...he has replace Dali as my favorite artist...
