Tim Holtz Distress Challenge

This is my Tim Holtz how do you use Distress Inks....I used mine with a 4x12 art canvas and here is the result -

Couple of tips:

The words down the left side were in a cluster and I wanted them stamped in a row so I took taped off the words I did not want to ink, ink the stamp, removed the tape and only the words I want were easily inked...

Edging was done with Distress Inks and I set them with Fixative...that was a new experiment and it worked...

I trimmed the spinners tails off to make clock hands....

  4. Very, very nice work! I saw your canvas post on the All Things Tim site and had to see more. Will definitely spend some time browsing your site. I do have a question - what is the round thing at the top right side of your canvass? It looks like a paper covered, glossy, metal thingy?

  5. The upper right side sprocket is clear, shrink plastic that I cut with Tim's sprocket Sizzix, stamped with permanent ink using one of Tim's word stamps then heated and reduced to this size...it is not paper, glossy or metal...just clear plastic...

    Glad you enjoyed my works...

  6. Aha! I have searched the web high and low to find out how to make distress ink "stick" to art canvas! I made a beautiful background with the inks and it won't seem to dry (with neither time nor a heat gun). So a spray fixative will do the trick? Do you recommend a certain one? I love your canvas, and I REALLY appreciate your tips! Now, off to lose myself in your blog for a couple of hours! ;)

  7. Can I ask what fixative you used? I just bought Krylon fixative and Krylon Matte varnish. I am trying to do a distress background for and acrylic painted tree scene.

  8. I used the Krylon fixative in the spray can...I have used that for years to set my work...
